Job Description

Do you want to be someone who will impact the lives of our young community on the NSW South Coast in Batemans Bay? Do you want to work in an amazing, year-round brand new aquatic facility with dedicated learn to swim area?

An exciting opportunity is now available to lead a team of amazing individuals to teach the valuable life skills of swimming. Being a coastal town, this is a vital skill for all of our community both young and mature.

The Head of Swim School role will manage all aspects of the swim school business including strategic business growth planning to meet key performance targets, develop and implement the Swim and Survive programs at Batemans Bay, Moruya and Narooma pools, manage staff performance and professional development, create business drivers and marketing strategies to increase awareness of the programs, nurture relationships with schools for their swimming development and school swimming competition, work closely with peer roles at other Aligned Leisure sites to maintain consistency of service, coordinate staff rosters and complete in-water swim teaching, and provide metric reporting to the Arts and Leisure Manager on a weekly basis.

This is a sensational opportunity on the South Coast for a full time swim school manager role. As the Bay Pavilions is a modern multi-functional facility, you’ll be working alongside managers of aquatics, gym/leisure, customer experience and theatre and arts.. a diverse and high performing team.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Delivery of children’s programs at Eurobodalla Pools
  • Management of the learn to swim, squad and aquatic programs at Eurobodalla pools.
  • Recruitment, supervision and performance management of all Learn to swim and squad programs staff.
  • Delivery of high-quality lessons and programs.
  • Maintain relationships with key industry bodies and service providers.
  • Manage all areas within agreed annual budgets.
  • Provide lesson and program information for all Eurobodalla Shire communication channels.
  1. Membership and participation growth
  • Maximise lesson numbers at Eurobodalla Pools.
  • Implement a customer centric culture where students enjoy their lessons, are rewarded and parents/guardians are well informed.
  • Oversee a structured development, retention and acquisition strategy.
  • Support the implementation of membership campaigns with the Head of Customer Experience & Sales.
  • Effectively program the aquatic space to cater to the needs of the community with consideration given to:
    • Public recreation swim participation and revenue
    • Lap and squad swimming
    • Group fitness aquatic activities
    • Key community and sporting groups/clubs
  1. Program and product development to keep pace with latest industry trends
  • Maintain an expert level of knowledge of latest industry trends.
  • Lead and educate teaching teams on trends and information. 
  • Provide appropriate lesson innovations to inform annual program, service and asset planning.
  • Be the face of all Learn to swim programs information within Eurobodalla.

The role will be based at the Bay Pavilions in Batemans Bay, but will be required to travel to Narooma and Moruya pools.

Desired Skills and Experience

Essential Qualifications and Experience:       

  1. Experience in swim school and/or other fitness based programs management.
  2. AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety (preferred but not essential)
  3. The position will be subject to relevant pre-employment checks and must maintain a current working with children check
  4. The successful applicant must hold or be willing to attain first aid and CPR qualifications
