Job Description
Experience
The Head of Facilities & Safety will work across all departments to ensure all facilities are maintained and presented to the highest possible standard and in a safe and environmentally responsible way. They will ensure customer satisfaction in all physical environments is maximised, supporting our customer-first philosophy.
A key aspect of this position is the setup of systems and work practices across the facility, ensuring operational excellence is maintained. Focus areas for this position are seasonal pool management, aquatic supervision, asset management, facility presentation, risk, safety and environmental management.
The Department Head will be a visible leader. They will work closely with staff from the Council, remaining in constant communication on the various responsibilities of facility and asset management.
Specifically this role will be responsible for:
Oversee the facility cleaning, addressing compliance daily through the Duty Captain structure and processes.
Ensure all staff, led by the Duty Captain, understand that everyone is responsible for delivering the highest standards of facility cleanliness and presentation.
Liaise directly with appointed Council Officers as required for asset and maintenance issues.
Maintain thorough asset and maintenance records and include this information in monthly reporting.
Have a thorough understanding of all relevant contract requirements of Aligned Leisure.
Conduct regular facility audits and review audits and checklists completed by others for all facilities.
Manage all areas within agreed annual budgets.
Manage the risk, occupational health and safety and environmental management systems
Manage external auditing requirements, including pre-audit compliance and post-audit rectifications.
Regularly communicate OHS, risk and environment information to staff relevant to their roles and responsibilities.
Implement best practice aquatic supervision plans for all aquatic environments to minimise the risk of drownings, injuries and incidents, while maximising customer satisfaction and enjoyment.
Role model the values, behaviours and service standards, instil this model throughout the organisation and ensure that all new staff understand this expectation.
Develop the Lifeguard and Duty Captain team to ensure all employees are performing inline with the values
Desired Skills and Experience
Requirements
Experience in aquatic and asset management desirable, but not essential
Tertiary qualifications desirable, not essential
The position will be subject to relevant pre-employment checks such as a Police Check and must maintain a current working with children check
The successful applicant must hold or be willing to attain first aid, CPR, lifeguard and RLSSA Pool Operations qualifications
