Job Description

The Swim School Captain will support the Swim School Lead to deliver the day to day operation of the Swim School, Aquatics area and Swim Teacher team.

 

The Swim School Captain will be required to have a vast and extensive knowledge of swim school and all that it entails, including stoke development, water safety, program growth, instructor training and monitoring and staff and customer retention. Management and maintenance of the swim school customer management systems is an important part of the role.

 

They will work collaboratively to ensure we are achieving the highest levels of Health and Safety on pool deck; through rigorous training, reporting and education, customer experience; engaging with all parents regularly and maximising member acquisition and retention, as well as assisting in the delivery of an exceptional swim lesson program.

 

They will take pride in operating such an important community asset and ensure that all areas are presented immaculately and maintained to the highest standards at all times.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Support the daily operations of the Swim School Program
  • Support the Swim School Lead with visible leadership to ensure Swim Teachers and Swim Captains are operating in a professional manner and following the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Lead the administrative requirements for the recruitment, supervision and performance management of all Swim Teaching staff.
  • Assist the Swim School Lead in the administrative requirements for the recruitment, supervision and performance management of all Swim Captain staff.
  • Maintain the integrity of the swim school database and lesson bookings at all times by maximising class occupancy rates.
  • Ensure all reports, checklists and procedures are completed and signed off by the Swim Captains each shift.

 

  1. Swim School Member Satisfaction and engagement
  • Take a proactive approach to customer engagement, recognising, welcoming and educating new participants.
  • Uphold our customer centric culture where students enjoy their lessons, are rewarded and parents are well informed.
  • Ensure Students are regularly assessed against the level criteria and are given immediate and considered feedback.
  • Manage student progression and class changes.
  • Confident and knowledgeable to solve customer issues on the spot.
  • Ensure all feedback is followed up in a timely manner.
  • Actively seek customer feedback on service levels.

 

  1. Swim School Administration
  • Maintain accurate records and swim school customer database.
  • Assist with departmental reporting requirements.
  • Lead swim teacher staff management and rostering.
  • Process and report Accounts Receivable data to finance department from aquatic area including lane hire, manual swim lesson invoices, user groups and school group lessons as required.
  • Perform staff appraisals on Swim Teachers with the support of the Swim School Lead.
  • Lead and educate teaching teams on swim lesson trends and information.

 

  1. Member of the Leadership Team
  • Members of the Leadership Team will role model the values of aware, discipline, relentless and united at all times.  They will instil these values throughout the organisation and ensure that all new staff are hired with these values in mind.
  • Members of the Leadership Team will at all times act in the best interests of Aligned Leisure and council.  If at any time a member of the leadership team believes that these priorities are not aligned, then the situation should be escalated to the Leisure Manager.

The Swim School Captain will undertake regular Swim Captain and Swim Teacher Shifts. The Swim    School Captain will also be required for swim teacher cover shifts and tasks relating to school groups. This may include weekend shifts.

 

They, will from time to time, be required to undertake other tasks as directed by the Swim School Lead.

 

Desired Skills and Experience

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

    •  Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety
    •  Teacher of Infants and Pre School
    •  Assessor qualifications
    •  Current First Aid and CPR certificate
    •  Working with Children Check
    •  2 years industry experience
    •  Experience in using Links CRM system is preferred but not essential
