Job Description

About the role

The Head of Swim School (Aquatics) will lead the delivery of high-quality learn to swim, squad and aquatic programs, ensuring strong engagement with students, parents and the broader community. This role plays a key part in providing safe, compliant aquatic environments while maximising participation, retention and program growth.  As a member of the leadership team, you will work across facilities to optimise aquatic programming, lead and develop high-performing teams, and contribute to achieving Council and organisational outcomes.

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Leading the delivery and continuous improvement of swim school, squad and school swimming programs
  • Managing, developing and supporting a team of swim teachers and aquatic program staff
  • Driving participation, retention and growth through a strong customer-focused culture
  • Planning and delivering aquatic programs, events and seasonal initiatives aligned to community needs
  • Optimising aquatic space programming to balance community use, revenue and experience
  • Maintaining industry partnerships and staying across aquatic trends to inform program innovation
  • Contributing to leadership outcomes by modelling organisational values and behaviours
  • Championing outstanding customer service and delivering on the customer charter and service standards

Desired Skills and Experience

About you

To succeed in the Head of Swim School (Aquatics) role, you’ll need:

  • Experience in swim school, aquatics or leisure program management
  • A nationally recognised Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety qualification
  • Strong leadership and people management capability, with experience developing high-performing teams
  • A customer-centric mindset with a passion for delivering exceptional community experiences
  • Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills
  • A valid First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain both

In line with our Child Safety Commitment, this position may be subject to pre-employment checks such as a Police Check and must maintain a current Working with Children’s Check or equivalent.
