Job Description
About the role
The Fitness Captain will lead the day-to-day delivery of fitness programs and gym operations at Monbulk Aquatic Centre, supporting members to achieve their health and wellbeing goals. You will lead and develop a team of fitness professionals to deliver exceptional service, maintain high-quality facilities and drive participation, retention and member engagement.
As a key customer-facing leader, you will create a motivating and inclusive environment while supporting growth across personal training, group fitness and broader health programs.
Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Leading and supervising the fitness team, including gym floor staff, personal trainers and group fitness instructors
Managing day-to-day health club operations, ensuring a safe, clean and engaging environment for all members
Delivering and supporting health, fitness and wellness programs aligned to operational plans
Driving member retention and participation through tailored programs and proactive engagement
Overseeing the development and growth of personal training and group fitness programs
Monitoring gym floor activity, supporting members and ensuring equipment is used safely and effectively
Contributing to a high-performing leadership team by modelling organisational values and behaviours
Championing outstanding customer service and delivering on the customer charter and service standards
Desired Skills and Experience
About you
To succeed in the Fitness Captain role, you’ll need:
Experience in fitness, health club or leisure program delivery, ideally with leadership responsibilities
Certificate III in Fitness (essential) and Certificate IV in Fitness (desirable)
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team
A customer-focused mindset with a passion for helping people achieve their health and fitness goals
Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills
A valid First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain both
In line with our Child Safety Commitment, this position may be subject to pre-employment checks such as a Police Check and must maintain a current Working with Children’s Check or equivalent.
