Job Description
About the role
The Mountain Bike Instructor will deliver engaging, safe and inclusive mountain bike sessions as part of Yarra Ranges Council’s community programs. You will lead structured sessions that build skills, confidence and participation for riders of all levels. You will create a welcoming and supportive environment while ensuring all sessions are delivered safely, professionally and in line with program objectives and community outcomes. This is a casual role.
Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Delivering structured mountain bike sessions aligned to program objectives and participant skill levels
Providing coaching, guidance and support to help participants develop skills, confidence and enjoyment
Creating a safe and inclusive environment, ensuring equipment is used correctly and risk is managed
Engaging with participants before, during and after sessions to encourage ongoing participation
Maintaining session plans, attendance records and required reporting
Supporting program growth by promoting sessions and building community engagement
Upholding service standards and delivering outstanding customer experiences in every interaction

Desired Skills and Experience
About you
To succeed in the Mountain Bike Instructor role, you’ll need:
Experience in mountain biking, coaching or outdoor recreation programs
A passion for engaging with the community and supporting participants of all skill levels
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
A high level of professionalism, reliability and organisation
Relevant coaching, fitness or outdoor recreation qualifications (desirable but not essential)
A valid First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain both
