ABOUT THE ROLE:
Reporting to the Football Analysis Manager, the Junior AFL Analyst works in the AFL Program to implement best-practice technology and analysis programs and policies, consisten with the vision and values of the Richmond Football Club. The Junior AFL Analyst is primarily responsible for supporting the coaching and recruiting staff through provision and analysis of appropriate vision, management of Richmond’s intern program and the filming of AFL training sessions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Game Analysis and Reporting: Analyse games to assess key performance indicators and structures, prepare and present summary reports on opposition teams, conduct weekly meetings with coaches to discuss KPIs and relevant players, and provide a weekly database of key edits regarding the structure and stoppage strategy of upcoming opponents.
- Intern Program Oversight: Oversee the RFC Analysis Intern Program, including training, task management, and rostering across all RFC Football Programs.
- Training Session Filming: Manage the filming of each training session, deliver vision to coaching staff, and store vision on the club database.
- Vision Editing: Clip and add graphic/tactical analysis to vision clips to support the AFL program.
- Game Day Support: Set up and support technological infrastructure for the coach’s box, interchange bench, and communication systems, and provide technological support and analysis tools to coaches during matches.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- Tertiary qualification in Sport Science, Information Technology, Statistics or equivalent
- Experience in the AFL industry and/or another sport at an elite level
- Proficient with vision analysis tools, namely Sportscode/Studio/Piero
- Proficient with various computer applications, including Apple products and programs eg. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Keynote
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work as part of a diverse team
- High attention to detail and organisational skills
- Approachable nature with a strong work ethic
- Optimistic and adaptable in a fast-paced and challenging environment
- A significant passion and knowledge of Australian Rules Football
- A strong desire to grow and develop one’s own skills and knowledge
